Odd Future to join Eminem tour?

New Zealand’s vibe just got killed.

Due to “an unavoidable scheduling conflict”, Kendrick Lamar has dropped out of the New Zealand leg of Eminem’s upcoming Rapture tour. However, there is some good news for hip-hop fans in Auckland: K.Dot has already been replaced on the bill by Odd Future. “New Zealand! Sorry I’m missing you this time, but the homies, Odd Future will kill it for you and I’m excited for Australia this month, ” Lamar explains in a press release issued by promoter Paul Dainty.

The Odd Future lineup headed to New Zealand – and then hopefully onto Australia – features lynchpin Tyler, The Creator plus gang members Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis, Left Brain, Mike G and Taco Bennett. Although crew members Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis and DJ Taco recently played in New Zealand as part of the Laneway festival, the crew were controversially dropped from the 2012 Auckland Big Day Out lineup due to pressure from LBGT activist Calum Bennachie.

Kendrick Lamar – who missed out on the Big Day Out tour due to his Grammy commitments – will still perform at all three dates on the Australian leg of the tour, which begins in Melbourne just days after the Auckland show. Eminem’s Australian tour dates also feature support from J. Cole, 360 and Action Bronson.

Marshall Bruce Mathers III popular known by his stage name as Eminem, was born on the 17th of October 1972 in Missouri, to parents Marshall Bruce Mathers, Jr. and Deborah Nelson. Eminem has a little bit of blood from Germany, England, Scotland, Poland and Switzerland. His mother was only 14 years old when she met his father, who was 18 years. They both were in a band when they met and lived together before they parted ways. Eminem has two half-brothers and one, half-sister. In his childhood years, he and his mother moved a lot, and finally settled in Warren, Michigan when he was 11.

The journey to success and fame has been hard for Eminem to say the least. Eminem has fought long and hard to be where he is right now. He began rapping at the tender age of 14 years, and decades later he is considered the king of hip-hop and one the greatest artists of all time. On top of his solo career, the rapper is a member of hip-hop dual Bad Meets Evil, and D12. He is among the best-selling artists of all time, and the best-selling artist of the 21st century. He ranks number 82 of the top 100 greatest artists of all time. He has attained 10 number one albums on the Billboard 200, including his work with Bad Meets Evil and D12. He has sold more than 220 million records globally.

Facts you did not know

  • When he was 9 years old, a bully beat him up so badly in his school that he spent more than a week in coma. His music has since helped people to get out of similar situations, including a 12-year-old girl who was hit by a vehicle in Northumberland.

  • His childhood dream was to become a comic writer and not a rapper. He spent most of his early year reading numerous comic books. He has since tried to incorporate comics into his music as is evident in some of his music videos.

  • Despite many brushes with the law and the tear away image, Eminem did not get arrested until he was 21 years old. The basis of his arrest was shooting at a police vehicle with a paintball gun. He was later released.

  • Eminem’s iconic stage name is taken from his initials, and not from the sugar-covered chocolate treats. However, one of the best Eminem-inspired works is an M&Ms portrait of a star by Enrique Ramos, a famous artist from Florida. The artist used over a thousand M&Ms.

  • Despite pillaring Eminem publicly for portraying him as a plastic surgery junky and sex offender, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson co-owns rights to Eminem’s back catalogue, which was included as part of the deal Sony/ATV Music Publishing signed when acquiring LLC back in 2007.

  • Moby does not hold any grudge against Eminem despite the rapper humiliating him in his music video. In fact, the bald producer thinks Eminem is a brilliant and talented artist.
